Introduction

Weavers Cottage is a detached, traditionally restored, listed hamstone cottage. There is an attractive outlook over a conservation area of particular beauty. It is quietly situated in one acre of private grounds in the centre of the hamstone village of West Chinnock.

The location is an ideal holiday base for those who wish to explore the surrounding countryside or browse the local market towns. There are many National Trust properties in the neighbouring area and numerous Classic Gardens to visit. The Cathedral cities of Bath, Wells and Salisbury have much of interest to offer visitors, and the Jurassic Coast is only 20 miles to the south. Walking enthusiasts are spoilt for choice and can explore the Leyland, Liberty and Parrett trails.

You will never be at a loss for something to do and we have many visitors who return time and time again, to discover more of the secrets of South Somerset.

There is a Post Office and a general store, 2 miles away, in the village of Norton-sub-Hamdon, and a garage within a mile or so. A local bus service to Yeovil is available, but your own transport is highly recommended. Crewkerne (3 miles away) is the nearest shopping town with three supermarkets, Waitrose, Somerfields and Lidl, Boots the Chemist, and four banks.

In the Eighteenth Century the accommodation was used by flax weavers and has recently been sympathetically restored by the present owners. Many of the original features have been preserved.

Ground Floor

From the gravel parking area outside the cottage French windows lead into the spacious sitting room 15ft x 22ft. There is oil fired central heating throughout the cottage. In the sitting room there is a large TV, DVD and stereo player (CD, cassette and radio), two three-seater sofas, a rocking chair and antique furniture which compliment the oak beams and elm screen. There are also magazines, books and games.

The large kitchen/dining room has an inglenook and multifuel stove, electric cooker with a fan oven, a microwave and fridge with freezer compartment.

Upstairs

Bathroom with bath and shower attachment, WC and washbasin.

The landing leads into the spacious bedroom with original beams. There are twin beds with 3ft mattresses and single duvets (the beds can be linked on request, and a super-king sized duvet provided). TV and Tea/Coffee making facilities are available upstairs.

Additional Information

There is an automatic washing machine for guests own use.

Convenient car parking for two cars is provided on the gravel area outside the cottage. There is a patio sitting area with chairs and table, lawns with a summer house, and two sun loungers.

We operate a non-smoking policy, and sadly are unable to take pets as some of our guests suffer from allergies.

There is a public telephone box in the village. West Chinnock has a pub, which is open every day of the week, a lunchtime and evening bar menu. Good eating places can also be found in most of the villages around West Chinnock.
